Catalina serves as the Editor of Future Voices of Public Health for the 2019-2020 academic year. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and intends to graduate Spring of 2021. Catalina’s research interests include health disparities, cancer epidemiology, and infectious diseases.
Academic Advisor: Katherine Pizzaro, MPH
Katherine serves as the Academic Advisor for Future Voices of Public Health overseeing the blog’s content. She is also the College of Public Health and Health Profession’s Academic Program Specialist focusing on student recruitment for the Master of Public Health program. Katherine is a graduate of UF’s program in Social and Behavioral Sciences.
FVPH Founder: Summer Slaughter, MPH
Summer received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Health Disparities in Society from UF in 2015. As an undergrad, she was an intern for the Equal Access Clinic and conducted surveys to understand the patient populations’ barriers to healthcare access. She graduated from UF Spring of 2017 with her Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Her current research interests include health disparities and the intersectionality of health and wealth, and minority health in regards to mental health.
